The #ManyDaughters project is a multi-analyst research project. We will collect pre-analysis plans (PAPs) and analysis codes from many research teams in 2025. Following this, project coordinators will analyze the collected data, with the findings published in a metascientific paper.
Schedule
Registration deadline
Research teams (RTs) are invited to register for the #ManyDaughters project. Project coordinators (PCs) pre-screen applications for adherence to the and invite all eligible RTs.
Participation notification
RTs are notified about acceptance into the project.
Survey #1 and data use agreement
RTs complete a survey and sign the SOEP data use agreements.
PAP and code writing phase
RTs write and submit their PAPs and corresponding Stata analysis code. Instructions and resources will be made available to RTs on May 26, 2025.
Data group: RTs will receive access to the SOEP data on May 26, 2025, and need to submit their PAP and code by July 20, 2025.
No-data group: RTs need to submit their PAP latest by July 3, 2025, and their code by July 20, 2025. They will receive access to SOEP data only after submitting their PAP. If PAPs are submitted by Thursday (June 5, 13, 19, 26 or July 3), access to the SOEP data will be granted at the beginning of the following week.
Survey #2
RTs complete a survey.
Peer assessment survey
RTs assess 10 other RTs' pre-analysis plans.
Data analysis
PCs implement analysis code submitted by RTs and analyze the results as specified in the PCs' pre-analysis plan.
First draft of the paper
PCs will write a metascience paper, with all participating RT members included as co-authors.
Pre-analysis plan
The project coordinators have committed ex-ante to a metascience analysis which was frozen before inviting RTs to the study. This pre-analysis plan was registered on the Open Science Framework on March 29, 2025, and is currently under embargo.
